Semantic Web und Linked Open Data in den Geschichtswissenschaften

Abstract

Der Workshop bietet eine Einführung in die Verwendung des Semantic Web und von Linked Open Data in den Geschichtswissenschaften. Nach der Vermittlung der Grundidee des Semantik Web und einer Einführung in die zugrunde liegenden technischen Standards (RDF, RDFS, SPARQL) steht die Vermittlung von Kompetenzen bei der Verwendung von SPARQL auf der Wikidata-Plattform im Vordergrund. Am Beispiel des Projekts "Wissensaggregator Mittelalter und Frühe Neuzeit (WIAG)" und unter Verwendung von Daten aus dem Germania Sacra Projekt werden Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der Vernetzung von Daten auf der Grundlage semantischer Technologien praktisch erprobt. Ein Blick auf schon existierende Anwendungen von LOD in den Geschichtswissenschaften rundet die Einführung ab. Ein Beitrag zur 9. Tagung des Verbands "Digital Humanities im deutschsprachigen Raum" - DHd 2023 Open Humanities Open Culture.
