Παρακολούθηση πυρκαγιών από δορυφορικές παρατηρήσεις σε παγκόσμια κλίμακα.

Abstract

Στατιστική και γεωγραφική ανάλυση δορυφορικών δεδομένων του προγράμματος World Fire Atlas του Ευρωπαϊκού Οργανισμού Διαστήματος (ESA), που απεικονίζουν θερμά σημεία στην επιφάνεια της γης και αποδίδονται κυρίως σε πυρκαγιές βιομάζας. Γίνεται μελέτη της συμπεριφοράς διαφόρων γεωγραφικών περιοχών ως προς την εμφάνιση αυτών των γεγονότων και επιχειρείται εύρεση συσχετισμών που δικαιολογούν την παρατηρούμενη συμπεριφορά. Η επεξεργασία και η διαχείριση των δεδομένων βασίζεται στη χρήση λογισμικού στατιστικής και "Συστημάτων Γεωγραφικών Πληροφοριών" (GIS).
