The Geological Survey of NSW (GSNSW) is the custodian of both government and company geophysical data for NSW. In 2020 GSNSW committed to delivering an updated statewide magnetic merge combining government and open file company geophysical data, at a very high resolution (25 m grid cell size). The workflow created for this merge forms the basis for all future updates to statewide merges in NSW. A range of New South Wales (NSW) airborne geophysical data acquired by industry before 2016 is proposed to become open file after 1 April 2022 under the NSW Government's Mining Regulation Amendment (2016), which introduced a 5 year `sunset clause' on confidential company reports. Th ese new open file data allow for a comprehensive update to the statewide magnetic merge.
