Abstract

Las áreas verdes urbanas son un factor importante para el bienestar de la población urbana, ya que mejoran el medio ambiente, maximizan el uso de los recursos naturales y promueven el bienestar de las generaciones futuras. En la planificación urbana, la utilización de sistemas informáticos que permiten generar un "plano dinámico" es una alternativa para obtener información confiable que facilita la realización de estudios retrospectivos y planificación de espacios verdes en equilibrio con el desarrollo urbano y la sociedad. Estos planes se obtuvieron para promover la cantidad de cobertura vegetal necesaria para lograr un entorno saludable en la ciudad. El objetivo es determinar índices de cobertura vegetal para la ciudad de Cabanillas-Puno, mediante el uso de SIG. Los resultados muestran que la ciudad de Cabanillas cuenta con 8,87 hectáreas de cobertura vegetal, equivalentes a 17,12 m2/hab. estando por debajo de los 395,31 m2/hab. recomendados para una ciudad convencional de la sierra. Se concluye que Cabanillas tiene una superficie considerable de cobertura vegetal en relación con su tamaño y densidad de población. Por lo tanto, los índices relacionados con la cantidad de cobertura vegetal presentan una importante fuente de datos que se pueden utilizar para evaluar y mejorar los planos de creación de áreas verdes y parques urbanos. Se recomienda promover la creación y mantenimiento de áreas verdes y espacios abiertos en las ciudades, lo que puede lograrse mediante la planificación urbana y la participación ciudadana en la toma de decisiones.
