Excel, das ungeliebte, wichtige Datenvehikel

Abstract

Schon Lotus 1-2-3 von 1983, preist sich an als Werkzeug mit dem man 1-rechnen, 2-plotten, 3-datenbanken kann. Mehr als 40 Jahre Optimierung stecken in Interface-Konzepten, die Excel als Eingabetool attraktiv machen. Das Problem liegt in der Standardisierung der Daten. Forscher*innen lieben es, IT-ler*innen weniger. Die hier gezeigten Tools unterstützen verlässliche, nachvollziehbare Transformierung auf Standardformate bzw. die Annotation von beliebig angeordneten Daten mit Ontologietermen. Damit tragen sie zur Linderung der Nachteile der Excel-Nutzung bei.
