Avaliação de técnicas de realce de contraste aplicadas em imagens mamográficas

Abstract

O câncer de mama é o tipo de câncer mais diagnosticado e o que mais mata mulheres no mundo. Um dos principais motivos desta alta taxa de mortalidade é o diagnostico tardio. Por conta disso, o processamento de imagens digitais vem sendo utilizado com o intuito de melhorar a qualidade das imagens mamográficas, facilitando o diagnóstico dessa doença. Desse modo, neste trabalho foi testada a eficiência de dois métodos de realce de contraste, sendo eles o Unsharp Mask (UM) e o Contrast-limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE), além da utilização da Transformada Discreta Wavelet (TWD como técnica de redução de ruido. Com o propósito de se comparar os métodos, foram utilizadas três métricas quantitativas, sendo elas: o desvio padrão, variância e o Índice de Contraste Carneiro (ICC).
