Abstract

A proposta da construção de um mouse adaptado surgiu após o Programa Educação Tutorial (PET) Engenharia Biomédica identificar problemas de inclusão em relação ao uso de computadores por alunos da Escola de Ensino Básico da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (ESEBA). O desafio da inclusão ainda impera na era das comunicações digitais, em que os sentidos humanos continuam sendo necessários para navegar em um ambiente que foge do espaço físico tradicional dos usuários. Dessa forma, o artigo trata da construção de um mouse adaptado que permitisse uma maior independência de indivíduos com limitações motoras, garantindo assim a inclusão deles. O dispositivo foi projetado para possibilitar sua utilização por outras partes do corpo, como o cotovelo e os pés, e não somente as mãos. Para isso, propôs-se que o controle da rolagem do cursor na tela se desse por meio de dois cilindros para movimentação independente nos eixos x e y, sendo o equipamento produzido a partir de impressão por manufatura aditiva. A análise preliminar do protótipo, construído em impressão 3D, indicou a necessidade de um dispositivo robusto, de fácil manuseio, com características adequadas para uma população com limitações motoras dos membros superiores.
