Abstract

Introducción. En niños, los problemas aritméticos permiten traducir el conocimiento matemático a situaciones cotidianas para facilitar su incorporación. Distintos estudios buscaron identificar variables predictoras centrándose en habilidades de dominio general, como memoria de trabajo (MT), en habilidades matemáticas básicas o en la comprensión de texto, tomando estas últimas por separado. Objetivo. Estudiar la incidencia de la comprensión de texto y las habilidades matemáticas sobre la resolución de problemas en niños de 4 y 5 años mediante un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales con MT verbal, MT visoespacial y conocimiento previo como variables independientes, problemas aritméticos como variable dependiente, habilidad matemática y comprensión de texto como mediadoras. Metodología. Participaron 61 niños de 4 y 5 años. Se evalúo comprensión del concepto de número, capacidad de asociar numerales arábigos a cantidades, comprensión de información literal e inferencial en textos narrativos, resolución de problemas aritméticos, conocimiento previo y de MT verbal y visoespacial. Resultados. Solo la habilidad matemática mostró un efecto directo significativo sobre la resolución de problemas y la MT un efecto indirecto. Ambos componentes de la MT se vinculan con la capacidad matemática, pero sólo la verbal con la comprensión de texto. El conocimiento previo sólo parece vincularse con la comprensión.
