Comparative physical and chemical characteristics of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and polyene antibiotics (PA) have been presented in this paper. The effect of a complex interaction of DMSO and PA with bilayer lipid membranes was examined and the results of experimental studies of physical and chemical characteristics of amphotericin B and levorin molecules and the interaction with the membranes were discussed. On the basis of PA molecules a theoretical model of creating effective membrane-active preparation against viral and fungal diseases of plants was developed.
