Laserchicken is a point cloud processing package that features pre-implemented and fully user defined metrics/features, novel target point cloud concept, entirely flexible user definition of subsets/neighbourhoods, and vectorized single processing that is arbitrarily scalable via spatial parallelism allowing raster, voxel, and point-based processing. The package easily be employed as a stage in a large processing chain, e.g. object/plain detection. It is already in use for practical applications, such as identification of fine-scale habitat niches of wetland birds by using nation-wide airborne laser scanning data.
