BENEFÍCIOS DA REPOSIÇÃO HORMONAL COM TESTOSTERONA

Abstract

A testosterona é um hormônio esteroide sexual, formada nos homens nas células intersticiais de Leydig (testículos), e nas mulheres nos ovários e numa pequena quantidade nas glândulas supra renais. Esse hormônio é responsável pelas características sexuais masculinas, embora seja produzido nos dois sexos, o homem apresenta cerca de trinta vezes mais testosterona que a mulher. A princípio os derivados sintéticos de testosterona foram desenvolvidos para uso terapêutico, sendo empregados na reposição de testosterona em indivíduos que apresentam quadro de hipogonadismo, devido ao desequilíbrio da produção natural do hormônio. O uso terapêutico dessas substâncias também é frequentemente indicado na intervenção de doenças que apresentam deficiência na produção de proteínas, como por exemplo, a síndrome da imunodeficiência humana e o câncer. Este trabalho é uma revisão narrativa da literatura cuja pesquisa bibliográfica utilizou os descritores testosterona, andrógenos sintéticos, treino de força e anabolizantes esteroides nos portais Google Acadêmico e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde que utilizam diversas bases de dados, constituídos principalmente de livros, revistas, artigos científicos, monografias e teses. Há muitos tratamentos eficazes contra o câncer de próstata; no entanto, ainda não há cura; os tratamentos mais comuns são cirurgia, radioterapia e terapia hormonal; usam esses tratamentos ao tratar os estágios iniciais do câncer de próstata para que os homens vivam o maior tempo possível durante os períodos de recuperação.
