Abstract

In the 1980s when China was just opening up to the world few companies thought about protecting their intellectual property. However, in the 2000-2010s, a lot of different brands faced the emergence of a large volume of counterfeit products, not only in China, but throughout the world. Increasingly, when starting a business in China, foreign corporations are starting to invest in protecting their trademarks. Trademark registration has become extremely important and is now a prerequisite for starting safe operations in the PRC. The article reveals the main stages in the development of Chinese legislation on the protection of intellectual property rights, as well as the cases of several Russian companies
