"Ciencia ciudadana" para la ciencia ciudadana: el caso de Generación Solar

Abstract

En esta comunicación se presenta una experiencia innovadora, que demuestra lo positiva y necesaria que es la simbiosis ciudadanía-investigadores para la ciencia de la energía solar. Con una metodología altamente participativa, que llamamos “Ciencia ciudadana para la ciencia ciudadana", el equipo logró desarrollar “Generation Solar”, una webapp que crea una base de datos de instalaciones solares descentralizadas. Nuestro enfoque consistió en un proceso participativo que incluyó i) una convocatoria abierta a los investigadores para obtener sus aportes sobre qué pueden contribuir a la sociedad con su trabajo y cómo la ciudadanía pueden colaborar activamente en su investigación; ii) una hackathon online que reunió a 62 participantes de 15 países para diseñar un proyecto de ciencia ciudadana, y que dio lugar a la presentación de 12 propuestas de ciencia ciudadana únicas en el ámbito de la energía solar; iii) un proceso de evaluación que valoró las propuestas y seleccionó una ganadora y iv) el desarrollo, lanzamiento y difusión de la iniciativa de ciencia ciudadana ganadora para que fuera adoptada por la comunidad académica en el campo de la energía solar. La aplicación cuenta ya con más de 22MW de energía solar reportados, 71 instalaciones, y se prevén al menos cinco usos de investigación para los datos recogidos. La presentación hace parte del Congreso Iberoamericano de Ciencia Abierta 2022.
