Aspidosperma ulei Markgr.

Abstract

Aspidosperma ulei Markgr. in Notizbl. Bot. Gart. Berlin-Dahlem 9(81): 78. 1924. Lectotype (designated here): — BRAZIL. [Roraima]: Rio Branco, Surumu, Serra de Mairary, 500–900 m, Nov 1909, E.H.G. Ule 8453 (MG [barcode MG013524!]; isolectotypes: G [barcode G00169349 image!], K [barcode K000587676 image!], L [barcode L0004437 image!], RB [fragment] [barcode 00535086!]). B†, F negative No. 4432 image!. Notes — Markgraf (1924) indicated the gathering Ule 8453 as “Original” for A. ulei between the two collections presented in the protologue but did not cite in which herbarium the type would be deposited. Woodson (1951) suggested in his notes the collection Ule 8451 (not mentioned in the protologue) as a possible new type collection for A. ulei since he believed that the original gatherings were lost in the destruction of the herbarium B. However, since we located several sheets of the gathering Ule 8453, we chose a specimen from a Brazilian herbarium belonging to this gathering as the lectotype of A. ulei (MG barcode MG013524) (ICN article 9.3; Turland et al. 2018).
