Hochleistungsrechnen (HPC) - für wen und wie eignet sich HPC in der Forschung?

Abstract

Hochleistungsrechnen (HPC) ist in vielen Bereichen der Forschung längst als Methode etabliert. Doch immer noch erweitert sich - nicht zuletzt dank Big Data und Künstlicher Intelligenz - der Kreis der Einsatzgebiete. Zudem werden Forschende im Studium selten an diese wichtige Forschungsmethode herangeführt. Thorsten Reimann und Christian Iwainsky vom HKHLR zeigen gängige HPC-Anwendungen und Techniken, erläutern das HPC-Ökosystem in Hessen und beschreiben die Serviceangebote für die Nutzenden in Hessischen Hochschulen. Der Talk soll allen Interessierten einen Einblick in die Möglichkeiten, die HPC für die eigene Forschung hat, bieten.

Die HeFDI Data Talks sind eine zweiwöchentliche offene Informations- und Diskussionsveranstaltung rund um das Thema Datenmanagement im Wissenschaftskontext, in deren Rahmen sich einschlägige NFDI-Konsortien sowie Forschungsdatenmanagements-Dienste vorstellen. Die Reihe diskutiert aktuelle Themen und stellt zahlreiche – auch lokale und regionale – Tools und Services vor. Angeboten werden die HeFDI Data Talks von der Landesinitiative HeFDI - Hessische Forschungsdateninfrastrukturen, welche vom Hessischen Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst (HMWK) finanziert wird.
