Abstract

This is the data repository for the scientific database EUBUCCO v0.1 (EUropean BUilding stock Characteristics in a Common and Open database for 206 million individual buildings). Introduction: EUBUCCO is a scientific database of individual building footprints for ~206 million buildings across the 27 European Union countries and Switzerland, together with three main attributes -- building type, height and construction year -- included for respectively 45%, 74%, 24% of the buildings. EUBUCCO is composed of 50 open government datasets and OpenStreetMap that have been collected, harmonized and partly validated. EUBUCCO provides the basis for high-resolution urban sustainability studies across scales -- continental, comparative or local studies -- using a centralized source and is relevant for a variety of use cases, e.g. for energy system analysis or natural hazard risk assessments. Data: The data of EUBUCCO v0.1 (and of all future versions) can be found at eubucco.com/data Version history: EUBUCCO is currently available under its first, beta version (v0.1). The first stable version (v1.0) is planned to be released later in 2022. This database is associated with a Data Descriptor paper. This version corresponds to the first journal submission. License: (!!) This database is composed of files under different licenses (!!) The majority of the data (95+%) is licensed under Open Data Commons Open Database License 1.0 (ODbL). Two datasets are available on this repository under different licenses. Their license is added to their respective file names. One input dataset has a share-alike requirement but which is not ODbL, namely Prague, licensed under CC-BY-SA. The file name is v0_1-CZE_11-OTHER-LICENSE-CC-BY-SA.zip. One input dataset had a non-commercial use requirement, namely Abruzzo, licensed under CC-BY-NC. The file name is v0_1-ITA_1-OTHER-LICENSE-CC-BY-NC.zip. Code: The code to reproduce the database or update it can be found here: https://github.com/ai4up/eubucco/releases/tag/v0.1 Changelog: v0.1 (Oct 20, 2022) Changed file format from .csv with WKT string to .gkpg (and .csv without geometries) Repaired assignment error of individual building ID per city. v0.1-alpha (May 12, 2022): initial version
