Abstract

Der Beitrag stellt die Ergebnisse des DFG-Projekts Hybrid Open Access Dashboards (HOAD) vor, das seit Ende 2019 als Workflow- und Fondsprojekt im Rahmen der Ausschreibung „Open Access Transformationsverträge“ an der SUB Göttingen datenanalytische Hilfestellungen zur Transparenz des Erwerbungsmodells erarbeitet hat. Der Fokus der Projektarbeiten lag auf zwei miteinander verbundene Monitoringaspekte, die laut einschlägigen Handlungsempfehlungen im Kontext von Open-Access-Transformationsverträgen mit kommerziellen Verlagen zwar wesentlich sind, auf die an den Einrichtungen jedoch häufig zugunsten institutioneller Publikations- und Kostenanalysen verzichtet wird: die Bemessung des Open-Access-Anteils wissenschaftlicher Artikel bezogen auf ein Verlagsportfolio mit hybriden Journalen und die Überprüfung verlagsseitiger Publikationsmetadaten hinsichtlich Vollständigkeit und Qualität. Die Besonderheit des Vorhabens ist es, dass ausschließlich offene Daten verwendet werden, um der wachsenden Bedeutung offener Metadaten beim Monitoring des Open Access Rechnung zu tragen. So stammen die Daten für ein vergleichendes Monitoring der nationalen Open-Access-Transformationsverträge, welches im Vortrag vorgestellt werden wird, aus den Quellen Crossref, OpenAlex, Unpaywall und des Open Access Monitor des FZ Jülich. Aufbereitet als quelloffenes Dashboard ermöglichen sie die vergleichende Analyse der hybriden Journalportfolios bezüglich ihres Open-Access-Anteils, der länderspezifischen Affiliation ihrer Autor*inInnen und ihrer Metadatenabdeckung. Mit dem Werkzeug metacheck entstand zudem ein Self-Assessment-Tool zur automatischen Gewinnung und Bewertung von Verlagsmetadaten bezogen auf Open-Access-Artikel in Crossref zur freien Nutzung.
