Controlled vocabularies for the social sciences: what they are, and why we need them

Abstract

Resources like controlled vocabularies, taxonomies and thesauri are essential to achieve interoperability. The aim of this short article is to provide definitions of the terms, in order to understand their use in the context of annotating the metadata behind the ODISSEI Portal. The short article has been published on the ODISSEI website.
