El aprendizaje autorregulado, emerge como un tema impostergable en la agenda educativa actual, sin embargo, este artículo, aborda uno de los temas menos investigados en este campo: la autorregulación de la docencia. En el presente texto, se hace énfasis en la necesidad de analizar la autorregulación docente, específicamente entre quienes se orientan a la formación inicial de futuros licenciados en educación básica. La investigación, de enfoque cualitativo y alcance descriptivo, tuvo como propósito principal analizar el objeto de estudio, con base en las fases y áreas que lo conforman, en las licenciaturas de educación preescolar y primaria de la Benemérita Escuela Normal Veracruzana. Los hallazgos, obtenidos a partir de una entrevista realizada a nueve docentes voluntarios, permiten confirmar la utilidad del modelo empleado para este análisis, además de reiterar que la autorregulación no puede ser considerada en términos absolutos, sino como un proceso humano en construcción y adaptación permanentes.
