VULNERABILIDADE SOCIAL E SIFILIS CONGÊNITA

Abstract

Introdução: A sífilis congênita é transmitida da mãe para o feto ainda no útero, por via transplacentária. Trata-se de doença evitável e de fácil diagnóstico que representa um significativo impacto para a saúde pública, uma vez que tem se mantido alta a incidência desse agravo, resultando em parto prematuro, óbito fetal e neonatal, e complicações decorrentes da infecção do recém-nascido. Objetivo: Descrever a compreensão de um grupo de puérperas do Espírito Santo sobre a sífilis congênita e suas consequências para o recém-nascido. Método: Estudo descritivo, qualitativo, realizado com quinze puérperas de uma maternidade pública do Espírito Santo, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada. A análise textual discursiva norteou a produção dos dados. Resultados: As narrativas apresentadas por esse grupo de puérperas que transmitiram a sífilis para seus filhos por via transplacentária evidenciaram conhecimento limitado sobre sífilis e desconhecimento sobre sífilis congênita, bem como, as consequências desse agravo para seus filhos. A análise dos discursos dessas mulheres evidenciou, ainda, determinantes sociais relacionados aos fatores comportamentais afetivos-sexuais e à história de uso de substâncias ilícitas que se mostraram, nesse grupo de mães, associados ao contexto da transmissão vertical da sífilis. Considerações finais: Acredita-se que o foco da educação em saúde para mulheres nessa situação deva se dar por meio de ações que permitam discussões e reflexões com os casais e especialmente com a gestante, sob o impacto desse agravo para a saúde do feto, do recém-nascido, bem, como para a vida da criança.
