Euwallacea destruens

Abstract

Euwallacea destruens (Blandford, 1896) Xyleborus destruens Blandford, 1896: 221. Xyleborus barbatus Hagedorn, 1910: 11. Bright and Skidmore 1997: 4, 149. Xyleborus barbatulus Schedl, 1934: 86. Bright and Skidmore 1997: 4, 149. Xyleborus procerior Schedl, 1942b: 189. syn. nov. Xyleborus pseudobarbatus Schedl, 1942a: 193. Wood 1989: 173. Xyleborus nandarivatus Schedl, 1950: 53. Wood 1989: 173. Xyleborus procerrimus Schedl 1969: 214. Hulcr & Cognato 2013: 92. Remarks. An image of the X. procerior holotype (NHMW) was examined. Schedl (1958b: 154), synonymised X. procerior with Cyclorhipidion terminaliae (Hopkins) (now Terminalinus), but this synonymy is incorrect. The image of X. procerior was compared to a syntype of X. destruens (NHMUK) and found to be conspecific. It is here considered a synonym of E. destruens rather than Terminalinus terminaliae. Distribution. From Southeast Asia through Indonesia to New Guinea, Australia and Pacific islands.
