Hausinterne Forschungsprojekte in Bibliotheken mit Fokus auf Citizen Science

Abstract

Smaller specialized academic libraries are also making increasing efforts to contribute their expertise to the academic community through their own research projects and to be seen as competent partners. What resources are needed for this, which stakeholders must be addressed, and how can libraries support the open access transformation in this way? These questions are being addressed by a temporary in-house project at the Museum für Naturkunde (MfN) that deals with legal issues in Citizen Science projects as well as the overarching context of Citizen Science to Open Science. For this purpose, a scientist from the Citizen Science research area (Dr. Linda Freyberg) and a staff member of the Coordination Office for Scientific Publishing in the library (Jana Rumler) of the MfN cooperate with each other. Open access issues such as free accessibility and visibility as well as long-term safeguarding of research output from Citizen Science projects will be related to possible consulting services provided by libraries. The aim of the exchange with the speakers is to find out which synergies and challenges can result from such projects and to gain an overview of similar activities of other libraries.
