The electron gun to be built and tested within ARIES WP16 is designed for integration into an electron lens for space-charge compensation in the heavy ion synchrotron SIS18. In order to verify the suitability of the gun design for this purpose, electron beam dynamics simulations have been performed with special focus on extraction and transport of the electron beam into the interaction region, where the requirements on the electron beam properties for space-charge compensation are defined. In this report, an overview over the layout of the electron lens is given and results of the electron beam dynamics simulations are presented.
