Abstract The article deals with one of the most important fields of philological science, namely theory and practice of compilation of different types of dictionaries. The article is devoted to the description of modern state of English dictionaries on the Internet. New tendencies in compilation of dictionaries are stated (analysis, synthesis, layout in a dictionary, extralinguistic information about authors, publishers, publication dates, reprints, corpus-driven approach, corpus-based approach). New trends in lexicography (cyberlexicography, corpus lexicography) are presented with respect to English dictionaries in general and English dictionaries of proverbs in particular. Special attention is given to the dictionaries of proverbs. Classification of modern online dictionaries and dictionaries of proverbs is also proposed on the basis of existing typologies. Different types of dictionaries of proverbs are described with special attention to their classification, modern types of online variants and future development. The conclusion of possible future development of online dictionaries of proverbs and getting access to their printed and online variants is drawn. Аннотация Статья посвящена описанию одного из самых важных направлений филологической науки – теории и практики составления словарей различных типов. Статья посвящена описанию современного состояния английских словарей в сети Интернет. Определяются новые тенденции в составлении словарей (анализ, синтез, способы расположения материала в словнике, экстралингвистическая информация об авторах, издательстве, датах публикации, переизданиях, роли корпуса в создании словарей). Новые тенденции в лексикографии (киберлексикография, корпусная лексикография) описываются применительно к английским словарям в общем и словарям пословиц в частности. Особое внимание уделяется последним – словарям пословиц английского языка. Предлагается классификация современных он-лайн справочников и словарей пословиц на основе существующих типологий. Разные типы словарей пословиц описываются в аспекте их классификации, современного состояния и перспектив развития. Делается вывод о возможном дальнейшем развитии он-лайн словарей английских пословиц, их типах, возможных носителях, адресате и формате.
