LES MOTOCYCLES ET MOTO-TRICYCLES DANS LE TRANSPORT PUBLIC URBAIN EN CÔTE D'IVOIRE

Abstract

Le transport à moto et en tricycle, qui se développe depuis des années dans de nombreux pays d’Afrique, a finalement atteint la Côte d’Ivoire. Sous l’effet de la propagation, ces engins ont envahi les villes ivoiriennes, y compris la métropole d’Abidjan. Ce mode de transport inapproprié a pris une dimension qui interpelle plus d’un. Cette recherche vise à déterminer les différentes étapes de l’émergence et de l’évolution de ce nouveau mode de transport, mais aussi à comprendre la logique de sa durabilité. À cette fin, la méthodologie est fondée sur la documentation, l’observation, les enquêtes de terrain (questionnaire et entretiens). Un échantillon constitué en grande partie de 230 conducteurs a été mobilisé. Les résultats obtenus montrent que l’apparition de la moto dans la mobilité des villes ivoiriennes s’est faite en trois étapes : la période avant 2002, de 2002 à 2010 et de 2010 à aujourd’hui. Egalement, ces résultats montrent que les besoins en transport des populations urbaines de plus en plus croissants, la dégradation du réseau routier de la plupart des villes et la question de l’emploi des jeunes sont autant de logiques qui suscitent le développement et la pérennité de ces engins dans les villes en Côte d’Ivoire.
