Deliverable D-IA.2.2.OH-Harmony-Cap.4.3 - Technical Report: Designing and Implementation of Harmonised Protocols for the Detection and Typing of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC), Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC), Cryptosporidium and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Salmonella and Campylobacter spp. in the European Union

Abstract

This is a public deliverable of One Health EJP Joint Research Project, Integrative Action-2.2, OH-HARMONY-CAP: One Health Harmonisation of Protocols for the Detection of Foodborne Pathogens and AMR Determinants. This document represents the final report of the Work Package 4 (WP4) of OH-Harmony-Cap Project, which aims at the definition of harmonised procedures for the detection and typing of: - Pathogenic E. coli (STEC and ETEC) - Cryptosporidium spp. - AMR in Salmonella and Campylobacter spp. A general description of the methods for achieving this goal are presented, and the activities carried out in WP4 and the outputs (consisting in the proposed harmonised procedure, ranking of methods or decision tree) are described in different sections. The resulting proposed procedures have been selected based on protocols collected at international level, shared by European public health, veterinary and food testing institutions and National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) reached via the EURLs for the relevant microrganisms, as described in the report.

Grants: European Commission: One Health EJP - Promoting One Health in Europe through joint actions on foodborne zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance and emerging microbiological hazards. (773830)
