This 1941 official statement about the impact of the Swansea Blitz was originally created in response to the inevitable criticism that emerged after the February Blitz over how the County Borough's air raid precautions service handled the situation. Some councillors worked to make political advantage of the tragedy and this can be seen in the carefully chosen words of the Controller Lang-Coath. The text needs little explanation. I have added some commentary and some photographs. The days after the raids were terrible as Lang-Coath and his staff worked to feed people, coordinate the collection of human remains and make buildings safe. This is another experiment in Adobe eBook approach from Swansea History Web. See Alban, J.R. 1994. The Three Nights’ Blitz: Select Contemporary Reports Relating to Swansea’s Air Raids of February 1941, Studies in Swansea’s History, 3 (Swansea: City of Swansea) for more.
