Genus Zodarion Walckenaer, 1826 Comments. According to Bosmans (2009), the males within the germanicum group are characterized by a conspicuous tegular projection which form is often of diagnostic value at species level. The males within the spinibarbe group have an unmodified tegulum and possess a large retinaculum (tegular apophysis attached to tegulum with membranous support sensu Jocqué 1991), often incised prolaterally, and with several large teeth. The shape of retinaculum is of significant diagnostic value.
