Gaceta Punto Crítico No.3 (agosto-septiembre) / Newsletter Punto Crítico No.3 (August-September)

Abstract

--------------------------- In the third issue of the Punto Crítico newsletter, from the MeCCS Platform, we present some ideas about the construction of scenarios which can help us generate ideas to face the unknown and the uncertainties of the future. The study of socioenvironmental problems has found in the construction of scenarios an important way to understand what actions we must promote or take to face the climate crisis or to achieve appropriate management of natural resources. In this issue you'll find a note on the future of CCUS, written by Sallie Greenberg of the University of Illinois. In the CO2NVERSING section we include an interview with Carlos Muñoz Piña, Ph.D. in Natural Resource Economics from the University of California at Berkeley, about growth and degrowth trajectories from an environmental economics perspective. In the section Yes, yes it is, we have designed some scenarios that have emerged from an exploration of ideas derived from the current management of carbon emissions. We also add a note that delves into some science fiction scenarios that have been explored in anime movies and series, specifically from the cyberpunk and solarpunk genres. Of course, we leave you some recommendations to continue exploring these topics in the Take-away section.
