La actividad citrícola en México es de importancia económica y territorial, pues estos productos se cultivan en 28 estados de la República Mexicana y su producción nos coloca como el cuarto productor mundial, sin embargo, el patrimonio citrícola se encuentra expuesto a plagas de interés cuarentenario “ausentes” en México como: cancro, clorosis variegada y mancha negra de los cítricos. Este análisis permitió determinar la asociación espacial condición, fitosanitaria/flujos comerciales, obteniendo un escenario regional del riesgo fitosanitario al que se encuentra expuesta la citricultura mexicana ante diferentes amenazas cuarentenarias. Para el año 2020 existió la importación de 8 mil 683.62 toneladas de productos y subproductos citrícolas a México, procedentes de once países, además existen 71 países y 51 estados o provincias con un estatus fitosanitario con la presencia de estas plagas. Actualmente, el organismo nacional de protección fitosanitaria de México (SENASICA), realiza actividades de vigilancia epidemiológica fitosanitaria activa de plagas cuarentenarias, siendo un proceso preventivo realizado a través de diferentes estrategias operativas, otorgando una certeza a la calidad e inocuidad de los cítricos mexicanos.
