Edessa Fabricius, 1803 This genus is very difficult to diagnose, but several species can be recognized by having the head dorsally flat, the margins rounded and barely emarginated, the first labial segment inserted in the buccula, and some species have a dark spot on the humeral angles equal to or longer than head width (Silva et al. 2017; Nunes et al. 2019).
