Abstract

La pandemia por COVID-19 y la propagación acelerada del virus SARS-CoV-2 ha provocado que los gobiernos decreten el aislamiento social obligatorio en muchos países, ocasio­nando que las personas modifiquen sus hábitos, entre los cuales destaca el tiempo de conexión a internet. Si bien el internet viene brindando valiosas oportunidades en aspec­tos científicos, comunicativos y sociales a la sociedad, su uso inapropiado y extremo, en su mayoría con fines recreati­vos, es una grave amenaza para la salud y el bienestar de la población, especialmente, para los jóvenes. Por ello, la pre­sente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar la adicción a internet (AI) en los estudiantes de pregrado de una univer­sidad privada peruana durante la pandemia por COVID-19. El enfoque fue cuantitativo, el diseño, no experimental y el tipo, descriptivo de corte transeccional. La muestra estuvo conformada por 265 estudiantes y el instrumento utilizado para la recolección de datos fue la Escala de Adicción a In­ternet de Lima, el cual contaba con una adecuada validez y confiabilidad. Los resultados indican que el 43,4% de los estudiantes presentaron niveles moderados de AI, caracte­rizados principalmente porque dedicaban más tiempo a in­ternet de lo que pretendían, luego de haberse desconectado sentían que querían seguir conectados a internet y llegaron a tener problemas en la universidad por dichas conductas. Se concluyó que el nivel predominante de AI en los estudiantes era moderado y que algunas variables sociodemográficas y académicas como el sexo, el grupo etario, el tiempo de co­nexión, así como el rendimiento académico anterior se aso­ciaban de manera significativa a dicha trastorno (p<0,05).
