Authors: ALDOORI;

Abstract

This study sheds light on the importance that hadith narrators place to be sure about memory and listening, and their great efforts to purify the Sunnah of our Prophet (PBUH) from all kinds of excess, deficiencies, and doubts. Many factors encourage them to behave in this way. The most important of these are their recognition of the position of the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) in Islamic Sharia; efforts to convey the Sunnah as it was from the Prophet (PBUH); Muslims taking him as an example and applying his decree; their fear of mistakes that would be included in the sunnah or confusion in one of the narrators, and their contribution by rote memorization to avoid any falsehood that might come to the Prophet (PBUH). For the confirmation and realization of Memorization and Listening, narrators followed several ways such as: negotiating about the hadiths; traveling between countries to hear or be sure of a hadith; repeating the hadith he had heard for the first time from his sheikh; because of a doubt in the narration, the narrator's application to a narrator who has good memory and memory; the narrator sometimes asking his teacher if he had heard from the teachers preceding him; referencing to the Quran in case of conflict.
