Abstract

Wie besonders ist die “Königsdisziplin” der Baukunst – gerade im vermeintlich so säkularen 20. Jahrhundert? Das Herbst-Heft von moderneREGIONAL “Haus mit Turm – die Kirchen und die Moderne” folgt einer Baugattung, die nach den Zerstörungen des Zweiten Weltkriegs so experimentierfreudig war wie kaum eine andere: Von der zeichenhaften “Seelenabschussrampe” bis zum weltoffenen “Haus ohne Turm” nutzten Architekten wie Theologen die neuen inhaltlichen wie technischen Freiräume nur zu gerne. Heute stehen gerade diese Räume im Umbruch … Im Leitartikel ergründet Ruben Donsbach, was Glaube und Moderne verbinden könnte. Philipp Stoltz skizziert am Münchener Beispiel, wie die Ökumenischen Zentren entstanden. Andreas Poschmann berichtet über das neue Vernetzungsprojekt “Straße der Moderne”. Für die Fotostrecke begaben sich Daniel Bartetzko und Karin Berkemann auf Spurensuche nach abgerissenen und umgenutzten Kirchen. Verena Schädler untersucht den katholischen Kirchenbau in der späten DDR. Matthias Ludwig gewährt Einblicke in seine Beratungsarbeit mit modernen Kirchen. Im Interview sprechen Rocco Curti und Martin Krause über das Verhältnis von Kirche und Denkmalpflege in Hannover. Und nicht zuletzt bietet Karin Berkemann in ihrem Porträt einen sehr persönlichen Rückblick auf “ihre” Kirchen.
