A campanha internacional Stop Killer Robots atinge a Guerra na Ucrânia em algumas de suas dimensões. Embora o recurso não pareça tão claro e urgente, a questão está relacionada aos determinantes morais da existência de armamentos autônomos em conflitos que, mesmo quando regidos por normas e direito internacional, não são observados pelo que representam em seus efeitos abrangentes. Assim, as consequências que surgem entre o caráter desumano tanto do ataque quanto da recepção e o uso sistemático e desordenado da inteligência artificial (IA) em armamentos exigem uma responsabilidade mais objetiva. Uma hipótese é que armas autônomas podem vitimizar populações civis, acidentalmente ou deliberadamente, dependendo do nível de animosidade. Nesse sentido, cabe destacar que a campanha se torna urgente em pelo menos três aspectos que tocam a guerra na Ucrânia: a ausência de um acordo de padrões éticos no final de 2021, demonstrando a fragilidade do sistema multilateral em garantir limites a esse tipo de controvérsia; a natureza de uma guerra informativa e assimétrica russa na Ucrânia em curso, que abriga o uso por ambas as partes do conflito de armamento autônomo; e o uso de armas autônomas contra a população civil deslocada.
