Purpose: To study the clinical profile of patients of Meibomitis presenting to the Outpatient Department of Ophthalmology at Maharani Laxmi Bai medical college, Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh Methods: This was a prospective observational study that involved 100 patients with meibomitis complaining of pain, redness, dryness, swollen eyelids, itching, burning, grittiness and photophobia and presented to MLB Medical College,Jhansi. Slit lamp examination was done in all the patients. Results:There were 58 males and 42 females and the age group taken was 30 to 80 years.10 patients belonged to the age group of 30 to 40 years, out of which 6 were males and 4 were females. 20 patients belonged to age group of 41 to 50 years, out of which 11 were males and 9 were female. 37 patients belonged to the age group of 51 to 60 years, out of which 21 were males and 16 were females. 26 patients belonged to age group of 61 to 70 years, out of which 16 were males and 10 were females . 7 patients belonged to the age group of 71 to 80 years, out of which4 were male and 3 were female.It is most common in males of 51 to 60 years age group. Most common presenting symptom was dryness seen in 42% patients, followed by itching in 26%, followed by grittiness in 16%, swollen eyelids in 4% patients and lastly photophobia in 9% Conclusion: meibomits or Posterior blepharitis (PB) is a common, chronic, and potentially sight-threatening eyelid and ocular surface disease and the disease tend to occur more commonly in males of age group between 51 to 60years. Most common is chronic form followed by acute form. Maximum patients presented with meibomian seborrhorea and rest with meibomianitis.
