Do negacionismo e do cientificismo contra a ciência e a defesa do armamentismo (From denialism and scientism against science and the defense of armamentism)

Abstract

Viva a ciência e a cultura! Viva a democracia e os direitos sociais! ======================== In the context of social and political debate, in recent years, one of the objects around which groups have coalesced is science. On the one hand, there are those we have come to call “deniers” because they reject science in an absolute way, regressing the discussion to a kind of confrontation between truths of “faith” versus “rational or scientific statements”. On the other hand, there are those that we call “scientists”, who claim that any expression of knowledge, in order to be legitimate and scientifically based, must refer to someone else, as if the person who expresses himself/herself could not be or could not consider himself/herself. and neither to be considered a subject of authorship nor deserved to have his voice heard. A few days ago, according to information in the national press, the former Minister of Culture, Sérgio Paulo Rouanet, died. Among his productions, a book, called As Razões do Enluminismo, stands out. He emphatically emphasizes the importance of rescuing philosophical and scientific rationality so that contemporary society can face its dilemmas. In honor of Sérgio Paulo Rouanet, we manifest ourselves against denialism and against scientism, in defense of rationality! Long live science and culture! Long live democracy and social rights!
