Campañas de atracción W-STEM. Caso de la Universidad de Costa Rica

Abstract

La educación es esencial para eliminar la brecha de género en carreras STEM y, por tanto, una educación con perspectiva de género es primordial. Este cambio lleva tiempo, pero es importante hacerlo. Por eso, desde la Universidad de Costa Rica se intenta apoyar al Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP) del país, con el propósito de colaborar con ellos en la realización de nuevas prácticas de Ciencias a nivel de Educación Primaria, para motivar al estudio de disciplinas STEM y, por otro lado, realizar actualizaciones en Ciencias Básicas a las personas docentes de Educación Secundaria. De esta forma, estas personas pueden colaborar en mantener la motivación de las personas jóvenes estudiantes cuando llegan a la Educación Secundaria. Para lograr lo anterior, ya se preparó un primer grupo de prácticas para Primer Grado de Primaria en conjunto con un especialista en educación de enseñanza de las ciencias a nivel primario y una diseñadora gráfica, y que se entregará al MEP prontamente. Por otro lado, también en conjunto con el Grupo de Investigación, Docencia y Extensión de las Ciencias (GIDEDICI), se está recopilando información para conocer cuáles son los temas prioritarios que se requiere que sean incluidos en las capacitaciones a las personas docentes de Educación Secundaria. Mientras esas actividades se van organizando y realizando, son varias las campañas de atracción en las que se ha participado y colaborado en su organización dentro del proyecto W-STEM. Cómo se verá, se trabajó con otras agrupaciones para unir esfuerzos.
