HIPERTENSIÓN Y FACTORES DE RIESGO ASOCIADOS

Abstract

La hipertensión arterial es un problema de salud pública con alta morbilidad y mortalidad, asociada a factores de riesgo. Esta investigación tiene como objeto determinar la situación de hipertensión, obesidad y factores de riesgo en asistentes a despistajes. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, analítico y transversal de 253 personas de ambos sexos con edad promedio de 40,6 años, asistentes a despistajes realizados en la Unidad de Farmacología Clínica, Facultad Farmacia, Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), entre abril y mayo 2011. A los participantes se les apertura una historia clínica y firmaron consentimiento informado, antes de medir presión arterial e índice de masa corporal. Seguidamente, se dieron recomendaciones pertinentes, material informativo y/o remisión a consulta médica. Entre los resultados se tienen los siguientes: presión arterial normal (84,72%), hipertensos (15,28%); en estadios I (10,28%), II (4,35%), III (1,19%), respectivamente. Personas con exceso de peso (74,4%): sobrepeso (42,69%), obesidad grado I (20,95%), grado II (8,3), mórbida (2,37%). Hipertensos con sobrepeso en estadio I (92%), estadio II (72,72%) y III (50%). Otros factores de riesgo asociados: antecedentes familiares (76,3%), hábito tabáquico: fumadores (29,6%), no fumadores (27,7%), pasivos (42,7%); Hábito alcohólico: Si (60,1%), No (39,9%). Actividad física: No (51%), Si: No programada (28%) y programada (21%). Hipertensos que conocen su situación y no usan medicación: estadios I (50%), II (75%) y III (50%). Es importante fomentar la educación en cuanto a conocimiento, control, seguimiento de hipertensión y uso racional de medicamentos mediante asistencia a chequeos médicos anuales, para diagnosticar o evaluar si la medicación utilizada está siendo efectiva o no.
