Arsénico inorgánico en trabajadores mineros expuestos

Abstract

En la parte alta de la provincia de El Oro (Portovelo- Sector Pache) se realizan actividades mineras que en sus residuos dejan en estado libre metales pesados tal es el caso del arsénico, el cual, contaminan las cuencas hidrográficas. El arsénico tiene un valor establecido carcinogénico de 1.5 mg/kg/día, los riesgos son cáncer de pulmón, piel y hígado. El objetivo fue, evaluar los parámetros bioquímicos y manifestaciones clínicas en trabajadores mineros, expuestos a arsénico inorgánico, para establecer los niveles de exposición y proponer campañas de concientización en la población. Metodológicamente, se determinaron las concentraciones de arsénico inorgánico, en muestras de orina de los trabajadores mineros expuestos, que laboran alrededor de la cuenca hidrológica del río Calera. Las muestras fueron sometidas a procesos de digestión, para su posterior análisis por el método de espectrofotometría de absorción atómica. El valor promedio de los arsenicales en los trabajadores mineros expuestos y no expuestos de Jesús del Gran Poder y San Antonio, sobrepasaron el I Índice Biológico de Exposición (IBE, 0,035 mg/l); con un valor de 0.3 mg/l en San Antonio, seguido de Jesús del Gran Poder con 0.15 mg/l, en el grupo de los expuestos.
