Abstract

Dieser Titel kann als gedrucktes Buch über den interact Verlag bezogen werden In der Schweiz wird die Geburt im Allgemeinen als eine gesunde, normale Lebenserfahrung angesehen, die von einer sicheren und effizienten professionellen Betreuung begleitet wird. Der Grossteil der Schwangerschaften und Geburten verläuft ohne wesentliche Komplikationen. Es kommen aber auch weniger positive Erfahrungen vor, die im schlimmsten Fall zum Tod des Kindes führen. Im Jahr 2018 wurden in der Schweiz 361 Kinder nach der 22. Schwangerschaftswoche tot geboren (Totgeburten) und 438 verstarben in den ersten 7 Tagen nach der Geburt (Bundesamt für Statistik, 2019)1. Diese Zahlen erscheinen relativ klein, betreffen aber zahlreiche Personen und vermögen die Bedeutung dieses tiefgreifenden Einschnitts für die betroffenen Eltern, Geschwister, Grosseltern, Familien und deren Umfeld nicht zu beschreiben. Zudem wird der Umgang mit dem perinatalen Kindstod – im Gegensatz z. B. zum plötzlichen Kindstod – kaum öffentlich thematisiert, so dass das soziale Umfeld der betroffenen Mütter und Familien nicht immer über die nötigen Kenntnisse verfügt, um sicher und adäquat reagieren zu können. Betroffene Frauen erhalten daher nicht immer die soziale Unterstützung, die sie benötigen würden (Frøen et al., 2011).
