Caracterización de esclerocios de cepas ambientales de Aspergillus flavus y su relación con la producción de micotoxinas

Abstract

Aspergillus flavus Link es un hongo frecuentemente aislado en estudios am-bientales. Es una especie productora de esclerocios, aspecto fenotípico que se ha relacionado con la producción de aflatoxinas y ácido ciclopiazónico. El ob-jetivo de este estudio fue analizar las características de los esclerocios de cepas ambientales de A. flavus por su relación con la biogénesis de micotoxi-nas. Se midieron los esclerocios de 14 cepas de la Colección de Cultivos Mi-crobianos de la Facultad de Biología y se realizó la detección cualitativa de aflatoxinas y ácido ciclopiazónico. Todos los esclerocios producidos por las cepas fueron del morfotipo L (> 400μm) y no se detectó la presencia de afla-toxinas ni de ácido ciclopiazónico. El conocimiento de las características mor-fológicas de estas estructuras de resistencia y su relación con la biogénesis de micotoxinas en las poblaciones de esta especie contribuye al conocimiento de su diversidad en el neotrópico.
