Nine naticids, three nassarids and seven terebrids have been found in the Cape Verde Islands; two species (Natica settepassii y Hastula leloeuffi) are recorded for the first time. Two of the 19 species are endemic, two are amphiatlantic, five live as far as southern Europe, and the rest have wide distribution areas along the West African coast. The radular study of six species of naticids proved that the radula is not a so useful taxonomic feature in this family. A lectotype of Nassarius denticulatus is chosen, and this species and the closely related N. desmoulioides, as well as Natica settepassii are discussed.
