Abstract

This article presents the collection "Biblioteca da Censura" [The Censorship Library], edited by Álvaro Seiça and published by the Público newspaper and A Bela e o Monstro, which contains 25 books that were recovered from the archive/library of the Censorship Services of the Salazarist-Marcelist dictatorship: the "Estado Novo" [New State]. The 25 books will be published in facsimile, between April 25, 2022 and April 25, 2024, at the rate of one book per month, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution. This initiative takes place within the scope of the exhibition “Obras Proibidas e Censuradas no Estado Novo” [Forbidden and Censored Books during the Estado Novo], on view at the National Library of Portugal between May 3 and September 3, 2022, which is curated by Álvaro Seiça, Luís Sá and Manuela Rêgo.
