Abstract

Palavras-chave: História da Química; Química e Revolução Industrial, Química e Sistema Produtivo THE PRODUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE IN CHEMISTRY AND ITS RELATIONSHIPS WITH SOCIAL, POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC FACTORS: HISTORICAL CONSIDERATIONS ABSTRACT: This paper analyses, in general terms, mutual links established between chemistry and the productive system within the context of the Industrial Revolution, particularly in Germany since the second half of the 19th century. In this sense, this paper presents some implications arising out of the production of knowledge in the field of chemistry and transcending questions internal to the production of that knowledge. These implications constitute a notable example of the economic, social and political repercussions born out of the incorporation of science into the basis of the productive system. In this way, this paper aims at characterizing science as a social practice within the broader movement of human social history. Keywords: History of Chemistry; Chemistry and Industrial Revolution; Chemistry and product system.
