Abstract

Ten new 2 :6-diaryl-3-ethoxycarbonyl-4-piperidones have been synthesised from ethyl acetoacetate, aromatic aldehydes and ammonia in glacial acetic acid, and their properties as well as characteristic group reactions leading to various derivatives have been studied.
