THE CONDENSATION OF ALDEHYDES WITH β-KETO-ESTERS. PART III. 3-HYDROXY-, 4-HYDROXY- AND 3:4-DIHYDROXY-BENZALDEHYDES

Abstract

3-Hydroxy-, 4-hydroxy- and 3 : 4-dihydroxy-benzaldehydes have been condensed with ethyl acetoacetate and ethyl benzoylacetate in the presence or piperidine, pyridine and Intidine. The resulting mono- and bis-esters have been characterised.
