RESUMO: O recebimento de acervos particulares doados aos arquivos, bibliotecas, centros de memória e de documentação, sempre reserva surpresas aos profissionais encarregados do tratamento, conservação e da acessibilidade do material ao público. Além de lidar com objetos e documentos o trabalho suscita uma reflexão sobre a memória e o colecionar. O desejo pela permanência de experiências do passado no presente, possibilita a escrita de uma versão particular da história. Na área de saúde, especialmente a medicina, acostumada a produzir registro de pessoas, as coleções trazem informações sobre a formação profissional, práticas assistenciais, relação médico paciente, condições de trabalho e os sonhos de felicidade e futuro. BEHIND COLLECTIONS: AN EXPERIENCE WITH HISTORY OF HEALTH ARCHIVES Abstract: Surprises are always awaiting professionals in charge of handling, conservation and accessibility when receiving private archives of material donated to the archives, libraries, and memory and documentary centers for the public. In addition to dealing with documents and objects, the works bring up a reflection regarding memory and collecting. The desire for the permanence of past experiences in the present moment makes it possible to have a specific historical version in writing. Within the health area, especially in medicine, which is used to producing a registration of people, collections bear information dealing with professional education, attending practice, doctor-patient relations, work conditions and dreams regarding happiness and the future.
