This is the abstract of our long paper presentation at DH Benelux 2022. Drawing from the history of theatre and cinema, we present theoretical research on multi-modal data representations, such as sonifications, edibilizations, olfactations, and physicalizations. We contribute to digital humanities by translating montage of attraction to multimodal data representation and reflect on how the careful combination of modal variables can contribute to the coherence and emotional impact of multimodal interfaces.
