RESUMO: As especificidades do desenvolvimento das ciências nos países periféricos exigem uma reflexão historiográfica e metodológica. As várias disciplinas científicas se desenvolvem numa relação simbiótica e são intimamente relacionadas com o momento social e político. Não vou me deter sobre o que significa historiografia e metodologia e adotar, como instrumento de trabalho, o sentido mais corrente. Onde estamos no momento com relação a uma proposta historiográfica e metodológica para a História e Filosofia das Ciências na América Latina? Essa questão será abordada a partir do que chamo basin metaphor, no marco conceitual da Etnomatemática, entendida como “arte ou técnica de explicar e conhecimento”. HISTORIOGRAPHICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL BASES FOR A HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCES IN LATIN AMERICA Abstract: Specificities of scientific and technological development in the periphery asks for a historiographic and methodological reflection. The several scientific disciplines develop in a symbiotic relation among them and are closely related to the social and political context. I will not digress to the meaning of historiography and of methodology and will adopt the most current conception. Where are we in this moment in relation to a historiographical and methodological proposal for the History and Philosophy of Science in Latin America? This question will be dealt with by what I have called the basin metaphor, within the conceptual framework of Ethnomathematics, understood as “art or technique of explaining and knowing”.
